CLOSED: Fairy Garden & Fairy Garden Art Swap!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Hello-My name is Stacey and of course since I am Fairy1004 I want to do a fairy swap!!!

I will open it today and will post names on the 2nd post-if you don't see your name and it should be there, JLMK:)

Just 2 rules for this swap:
1. If you already have a Fairy Garden or Fairy garden art, please give us a peek so that we can:
a. get ideas and share
b. not get you the same things you already have
2. You MUST post a pic when you get your surprise from your swap partner!!

I will close it on 7/9 and get names & addys to you on 7/10. While I hate to set $$ limits, around $20 is reasonable I think...

IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE EXCHANGE OR HAVE NEVER BEEN IN ONE OF MY CO-OPS, dmail me your address.

I expect all packages to be mailed out by 7/18-if you have an emergency, at least be courteous and dmail your buddy to let them know:)

I have attached a pic of what I have-I still need to paint some things and actually put it outside-it was raining today, so I set it up on my fireplace to give you an idea...

Here are some sites that have things for a fairy garden and fairy garden art.
Some of these are all compliments of other DG members that found them-thanks guys!!

I'm in...

P.S.
Sometimes you can go to hobby shops and go to the model train department. They have lots of small things that may work.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello, and So glad to be here. Can't wait for thisone.I told my hubby we were going to do a fairy garden, and he said, if it makes you happy, go for it. So here we go.
This sounds like so much fun, and I can't wait.
Linda

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I was trying to get mine out for the pic, but it was raining, so on the fireplace it went!! I will have to post a new pic when I get things painted and it put out...

Do you have anything fairy garden or any art thing in the garden that is like fairy or gnome??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not yet. I have been reading all the links here, and now is a good time to start a new project, and this one sounds like fun. Can't wait to get started.
Linda Kay

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

OH!! Can I join in?? I want to start a fairy garden, so I'm easy....I don't have anything yet!!LOL!!

~melissa :o)

I will be going to Summers Past Farm soon, it's not far from me. I will post pics, cause I plan on taking lots of them. Just have to get on the same schedule as DH and DS. Summers are a bit hot and busy here.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I am sooo intersted to see what everyone comes up with....I already have most of the stuff for this one & have the thing for my next swap I want to do too:)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Gotcha Melissa!!! How neat to live so close to one of these places!! I would be like a kid in a cady store!! I got some of my stuff at Michael's, Wally World and Hobby Lobby and a couple misc places...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

BTW-do I have both of your addys or are they in the exchange??

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I think we need a fairy and gnome coop! Or has somebody already done that? But NOT ME!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

All we have here is wally world. So I will be making a trip to San Antonio, Tx, about 150 miles from here. It will also give me an excuse to see the grandkids! woo hoo, shopping trip, and grandkids all in one...
Plus there is always the internet. What would we do with out our computers? I would be lost.
Later

Linda Kay
I am in the address exchange, but I will dmail as well.

The hard thing is is finding a place willing to sell @ wholesale pricing-maybe if Melissa can talk to Summers Past Farm when she goes there-I can host it and do all the order parts!!

How bout it Melissa??

Audrey-R U in?? Or just popping in??

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I would be a lonely olld cat lady!!LOL The cat & dog are the only ones I really talk to since DH is away!!

Linda-woohoo-grandbabies and shopping all in one!!

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Stacey, my addy is in the exchange. And the farm is seriously only 20-25 mins from my house!! whoo hoo, can't wait to go, from the pics on their website they have lots of beautiful gardens, animals running around, a gift shop, all kinds of neat stuff. The even have a Fairy Tea Party each year. I found the site too late but it looks like it's a ton of fun. The tickets sell out fast!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I'll have to think about it! The closest place for me to buy crafts like that is 45 mi. away. By the time I pay for gas, I wont have any money left to buy fairies!!! LOL LOL

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

so r u gonna check on a possible co-op?? some discount pricing Melissa?? If we spend like $3000-that is on the low end for one of my co-ops...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Audrey-that is why there is the wonderful WWW;) That's fine if you just want to lurk and chat:)

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Sure, I will talk to the owners. They live there on site. I'll see what I can do, I know they don't have tons of stuff but I'll check it out ;o) PLUS, they might be willing to get together with their suppliers since I got them some free advertisement on DG!! A great couple and their Mom/MIL live there, the farm has been in the family for many many years.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I really want to, but I'll have to think it over for a few days! If I can get to Jackson to Hobby Lobby, I might!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

That would be great Melissa!!! JLMK:)

Audrey-OK-we will just have you as an observer!!:) IF you decide to join, make sure I notice it-"k"

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I am going to paint some of my fairy garden stuff-be back in a bit:)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Alrighty then... count me in...

And, you better save a good seat for Marion... she'll be home tomorrow.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Now, I want to follow all the rules... so, here's what I have.
First... we only started digging the fairy garden 2 days ago... so nothing is there yet to even make it look like a fairy garden. We cut down the old dead tree there this morning, and cut it up in sections. It had some wonderful old knots and interesting forks in the limbs, so I am playing with them to see how they best should be set for houses and woodsy features. So, here's the whole area I have to work with... Don got a little carried away when he was digging... wasn't suppose to be this big.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

And here's what jumped into the shopping cart at Hobby Lobby and Garden Ridge the other day... A big sister and little sister fairies... 2 gnomes, 2 squirrels, 2 little hedgehogs with apples (on the shelf above the gnomes)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

And here's the other stuff I have so far.
A plaque to hang on a tree stump... a fairy that hangs from a nail (I suppose), and Bettypause sent me (in the envie swap) this wonderful tree face I'm going to use on the tree in the fairy garden.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm looking for things I can't make myself... like the little garden tools, miniature animals and insects, and stuffs like that.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Wow BJ, you are going to have one heck of a fairy garden!!! That space looks just perfect!! I only wish I had that much space...course since my strawberry plants just can't take the heat here maybe I can use that space. I have a fruit tree in that section of my garden too.

Oh wow, you just gave me an idea!! whoo hoo, okay, out with the strawberries and in with a nice med/lrg space for my fairy garden!!

This is going to be so much fun!! Now I can play in my garden year round!! It's like being a little girl all over again :o)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, like I said... Don got a little carried away.
Was only suppose to be around the dead tree (which is now a stump)
I was on the other side of the house digging holes and planting the grass he was bringing me as he dug it up. After about the 10th wheelbarrow load, I thought "hmm... is he digging up the whole yard?"... I walked around the house to see, and sure 'nuff.. he was still digging... he encircled two trees... sheesh. His excuse was... "I want you to have enough to do what you need to do here"...
Then this morning, after cutting up that dead tree, I think he was right... any smaller and I couldn't have used all the pieces of that tree.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Awwww, you have a great DH!! I have a good one like yours too ;o) We found ourselves a couple keepers for sure!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Indeed we do...

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Add me to the list! I'm in the exchange.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

BJ, I want one of your forked tree stumps! That is just perfect! I think maybe I'm gonna give in! And I don't even have a fairy door! So how will they get here?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

You just draw a picture of a fairy door on a piece of paper... tape it to the wall above the baseboard by your back door... that aught to do till you get a fairy door.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't have a back door! Think they'd come to the front?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

OK! Sign me up! I don't have anything, not even a fairy! I would enjoy anything!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, I'm sure they would for you..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thought hard about this. See folks, I got problems with kneeling, bending and squatting. How am I gonna do this and not hurt myself too much?
Lightbulb! Looks like I'll be having an elevated one, looking at Stacey's fireplace. So Kel doesn't have to do everything for me.
Count me in Stacey. No fairies here neither. Just 2 LSU gnomes.

Santee, CA(Zone 9a)

Heavenscape- You could always make one in an old birdbath.... that way it would be elevated and you still have enough room for a little fairy garden ;o)
