How long are Canna seeds good to plant?

Most hard coat seeds like canna (the ones you have to nick and soak) are viable for a very long time. I haven't beaten Phick's record but have had 100% germination on 8 year old seeds.
A 2000 year old date palm seed .. a no that is not a typo germinated and is growing.
