what did i buy?

i bought about 50 little vials of powdered colors that a woman painted on plates. there was a little jar of thick, glycerin looking liquid that said ,mixing medium .also a ceramic pallet to mix on. i have some glass that i'd like to paint on ,to look like stained glass. the man said this doesn't have to be fired unless you intend to eat off it, but glazed first if you do. i paid five dollars, and thought i got it cheap for starter colors. did i do good , and anybody know if this is suitable for what i want to do? sally
