Germinating Bunyas

(Zone 10a)

OK. Here is my conifer contribution. I am trying to sprout bunya pines from the nuts I found in a cone under a tree. Its my second attempt because the first time around, my dog dug up all the nuts & ate them.
This 2nd batch have been covered in a potting mix a fortnight or so & left in the weather. I read they sprout quick but it would be good to hear something 1st hand. Does anyone know?

Some good info here:

BTW, Bunya is not a pine, and has very different growth requirements.

Yeah. Neither the Bunya, the Hoop, Kauri, Norfolk Island, Huon nor Wollemi pines are pines. Eucalyptus Cinerea is not an apple either, but mere logic is no object when it comes to the naming of Australian trees my friend.
Thanx for the info. too. Since you are about the best tree identifier ever born Resin, do you think you could confirm some young Hovenias if I posted a picture? I am just not 100% certain they are Raisin trees.
