summer sowing

Lilburn, GA

Hi,

Is it OK to sow some perennials seeds now? Will the hot weather prevent them from germinating? I am thinking of some Echinacea and Black eyed Susan.

I would sow them in containers, on the porch (shady part).

thank you.

Hi Spider, I sowed seed of both Echinacea and an annual form of blk. eyed Susan in February. It has been a pain to germinate and the Spring snails and slugs have had a field day. If I were you, I'd sow now and water well (if you can). Don't necessarily expect flowers this year, but plants are a reasonable expectation and maybe flowers next year

Hi Bronx Boy,

I stopped working with plants due to illness. I am better now and the interest in them is returning.

How are you? And your family? And the tomatoes?

Last week I saw a car that had the "Bronxboy" on the number plate. I tried to look inside but the traffic was moving so i could not see if the driver was you.

Thank you Laurel. I will sow them and see what happens.

No that wasn't me.

I'm glad you are feeling better. The hummingbird plant you gave us is doing great.

Good!

Do you get many hummingbirds? I have lots here.
