Any experience with flowering currant (Ribes)?

I am considering buying some Ribes, but don't know much about them growing in this region. Anyone know anything???

I don't think any of them are vines, so you might post your question in Trees & Shrubs instead. I have several but my climate's nothing like yours so I can't really offer you any good advice for your region.

It is an intermediate host for White Pine Blister Rust, along with Mahonia.

I live in northern Oregon where the wild flowering currant is native. They are interesting to have growing native, as every bush is a different shade of Pink. Some of them are huge along the highways. But there are no old pine trees here. Frank
