ceiling tiles in basement

We have a 1940's tiny farmhouse with a full unfinished basement. The ceiling in the basement has a mix of these 10" or so square fabricy type of tiles insterspersed with plywood screwed into the rafters around where there are pipes or ducting. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to re-cover the ceiling with?
