I have an arbor leading into my pool area. I need some type of flowering climber that I can plant in pots on either side of the arbor. It should be fast growing. I would like to plant morning glories, but the area only gets a few hours of evening sun. It faces northeast and is partially shaded by a large tree. in the morning. Any ideas? I live in zone 6 so clematis I don't think would survive in pots through our winter what do you think?
Thanks for your help
climbing vine
you could bring the pots of clematis in for the winter
I don't know about it's sun requirements but Mandevilla is a good climber for pots.
Mandevilla is wonderful but that area doesn't get enough sun.
I may try the clematis. I'm not sure about over wintering it, what instructions can you give me?
Thanks to both of you for your suggestions
Yes, Clematis will survive in pots in zone 5b and up - I have about 15 Clematis vines that I grow in pots and they do fine over the winter.
