Is there a USA native or non-invasive honeysuckle that...

Brookeville, MD(Zone 7a)

...smells just as good as the super invasive Lonicera japonica one?

The fragrance almost makes me want to keep the invasive vines... I really hope there's an alternative with the same strong, heavenly smell.

Have to agree with you...love these temps that allow the drive down 95 with windows all the way down and that incredible scent rushing in...ahhhhh!!!

CaptMicha,
I found this web page that has a few honeysuckle vines on it. Not sure if any are native.

You could try the very fragrant carolina jessamine http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1262/ or american wisteria http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1351/

For a more complete list of alternatives, check out the PlantWise list of native substitutes for invasive/non-native species at http://www.wildflower.org/alternatives/index.php
