Mouse damage to euonymus bark

Saint Paul, MN(Zone 4a)

My euonymus has mouse damage to all of the main branches coming from the base. All except one of the branches have at least 1/3rd or more of the bark stripped off, a couple were bare completely around the branch. There is new growth coming up from the base. I have pruned out about half of the branches. Should I keep going? Should I leave the ones that are still producing leaves and prune them out later this year or wait till next year to give the new growth a chance to take over?

Euonymus are pretty tough things, I'd not worry about it.

I suspect the mouse will suffer the more, as Euonymus is poisonous ;-)
