Okay now I know more of what I need! I need ideas for shade only! Gosh the side of the building is in total shade - except for one planter that gets maybe a couple of hours of sun in the morning.....
Can you please give me ideas that are good for dry shady areas - I am looking for....
1. groundcover - low lying plants that might tumble out over the tops of their planters? it is ok if they don't tumble out either...
2...smaller every green shrubs and trees - I know nothing about trees - need big time help here please....
3. shade loving perennials - these are the only ones that come to mind - hosta, astilbe, ferns - have anything else for me??? Help!
Please answer as soon as you can - I am suppose to start shopping for this stuff starting tomorrow! Hellllppppp! Please.

I wish you could Carrie however I am in Canada - thanks so much for the ideas!!! I do appreciate them. It is great when you can help some organization that really needs it.
This is for a container, Dawn?
Well they are above ground type planters along the building...you can't move them....some of them are like 7 feet long and maybe 3 feet wide....some are smaller.
Small spruces, green or blue, are very nice. Vinca will work as a ground cover. It will trail, is evergreen and is cold hardy. What's your zone, 4?
Yes zone 4....thanks Victor - I am going to research those right now...
