I guess it just a different tomato plant! Somebody probably switched tags.

The leaves have a kind of "shiny" look to the surface, so I don't think it's a tomato plant. A melon of some kind maybe? I hope Farmerdill comes by as he will know. I would just let it grow and see what it becomes.

I vote for melon - but then I had to post a pic of a green pumpkin to get it Id'd because I didn't know what it was!

It looks like a tomato plant whose terminal bud was damaged and is surviving on one leaf. It happens sometimes. Sometimes they will grow a new sprout, but they are handicapped vs undamaged plants. If you examine it closely where that leaf is attached, you should be able to where the terminal bud should be. The leaf will be offset.

Oh thank goodness it wasn't a pumpkin and I didn't recognize it, again! LOL

If you crush a leaf, does it smell like a tomato? Then it is one. I never heard of a shiny-leaved tomato - are there such things?

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Looks like a damaged tomato to me too. Rub the foliage and smell it. It will smell like tomatoes.

Can it recover or should I just pitch it?

Augusta, GA(Zone 8a)

Unless you are short on plants, I would pitch it.

Thanks!
