Went for a canoe ride today and the "blankety blank" beaver blocked the river in the last 2 weeks, so we had to cruise around the edge of the marsh instead.
Found this guy in a cove. I was pretty far away and thought it was a green heron, but after zooming the picture I am not sure. He is smaller, maybe 20".
What do you all think?
CLOSED: Green Heron???
Yep, Green Heron it is
Resin
Wow thanks that was fast.
At least I got a picture of something. This is a great time to see fawns, baby ducks and turtles up the river. We have seen a couple of the green herons in the past, but they seem shy.
Thanks Pam, I have seen the greens like that before too, but never with their neck out like my picture.
I love the great blue heron. They are much more common here than the green. Sure are fun to watch.
