Is Boston Ivy a good choice?

I have a steep slope planted with ivy at the edge of my backyard, but there is still a large bare spot I need to cover. Is Boston Ivy a good option as a slope stabilizer? I know some folks will scream "it's invasive!" but I think it's pretty, and I WANT it to spread!
What I'm concerned with is if it will attach itself to the soil as well as it does on walls and fences.
Thanks for any advice!
