Honeydew melon question

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I am growing honeydews for the first time in years. They are from Burpees, I think Earlidew. The fruits are huge and some are starting to loose the "fuzzy" hairs. How do I tell when they are ripe? We garden year round here, the regular cantaloupes/muskmelons are ripe already. I can take a photo if needed. Do honeydews "slip" from the vine, or do they need to be cut?

Earlidew usually slips, on the other hand hand it usually ripens with standard cantaloupes. There will be a subtle change of color, a little more whitish or Ivory as it ripens. The blossom scar will also have some give when pressed.

Thanks Farmerdill. I should have kept the seed pack so I could remember which variety. The stem ends of the melons are getting a white color and hard feel instead of the apple green fuzz. I will keep an eye on the fruits. I don't like overripe melon!
