he looks like a baby and don't know how to get out. now what, and who is he
CLOSED: poor baby can't get out
It's a Chimney Swift, adult.
Catch if you can, and release outside (throw up into the air, clear of any trees). If you can't catch it, open as many windows as you can, and see if it'll find its own way out. If possible, pull blinds down on windows you can't open, so it can only see what it can fly through.

thank you
It is very strange to see a Chimney Swift inside of a house! Most likely it got in through a fire place. If you have a fire place, check and see if the damper, above the fire box, was left open. If so, close the damper to prevent them from getting back inside the house. They nest inside of unused chimneys.

no fireplace or chimney. he got in the door. his mate came to the door and called him. he finally got out
Maybe searching for a suitable nest site - there's a shortage of suitable nest sites for them in modern housing.
For anyone that wants to encourage them, the link I posted above includes info on constructing swift nesting towers.

What did they use before man-made chimneys?
Hollow trees (snags), and probably also caves where available.
