DAILY PICS VOL. 110
Elphaba - I think you're right. Definitely a french accent to go with that mock. :) But a good picture, despite the bird/critic's opinion.
Love your birds Elphaba and Rogue, very amusing.
Thanks for starting the new thread Elphaba. Those Mockingbirds are real hoots! So curious and comical. Your Cardinal looks like he stuck his beak in a light socket, real bad hair day but a great shot. :-)
Rogue that is a pretty shot of the Grackle.
Very nice pics guys! Thanks for starting the new thread Elphaba!
BeaHive, Thats a sweet shot!
Oh my gosh! Oh My Gosh!!!! Oh My Gosh!!!
I love you all and I love your photos but I am so excited I have to jump right in. I just saw a flock of the #1 bird on my wish list & I almost missed it!!
Mr. Thrasher was eating the grape jelly and then flew up to Mrs. Thrasher fed her a bit of the jelly so I kept my camera trained on them for a few minutes hoping for a shot of the feeding. When they separated I lowered my camera and my jaw dropped at the sight just a few feet above in my beloved Honey Locust Tree.
Here's Mr. Thrasher getting the jelly..
WOW. Congrats. I'm so glad it happened like that too. Fun story to tell.
I had been outside for hours never saw them arrive I was only able to get 5 clicks of the shutter off before they flew south. I can't believe they stopped in my tree.
May 21, 2008 is a day I will never forget. Must have been a dozen of them.

I'm so happy to have you all to share with. Now I'm going to behave and read & look at all your posts. :-)
Thanks Mrs_Ed :-)

Good for you Angele. Great pictures.
Congratulations angele!!
The wind has been terrible here lately and temperatures are already reaching into the 100's; so I haven't been able to do much bird watching lately. That's why I love this forum … I can still get my bird watching "fix". GREAT pictures everyone!
Every year western kingbirds build a nest on my front porch. This year, the mama bird went all out, building a nest that was twice as tall as usual. DH & I joked that it was a high-rise condo for her babies.
There were originally 3 eggs in the nest; but only one survived. Yesterday morning, I got my first glimpse of the baby, which looks to be pretty big already.
Last night, when I took my dog out, I noticed my western kingbird nest was torn up. I spotted part of the nest on the ground, with the baby right beside it. As I got close, the baby tried to fly away; but its foot was caught in the nest. It just didn't have the strength to fly with the weight of the nest on its foot.
I picked up the baby, brought it inside, and very carefully cut the nest off of its foot. At first the baby was scared; but then I think it realized I was just trying to help it. Afterwards, I put it back up on the porch ledge. It was still there when I went to bed last night; but by this morning it was gone. Sometimes the fledglings return to the nest for a day or two; so I'll be keeping a lookout for it.

Ooh, I sure hope he makes it!
I took this long range pic of a Great Blue Heron a few miles West of my house on the Klamath River Monday morning on the way to the Klamath Basin for a couple of days. Just got home. I took in excess of 600 pics, got it down to 450 last night in the motel room. I'm starting the job of sorting and when I get through I'll post them on a separate thread named TWO DAYS IN MAY. A word of warning, it's going to be a long thread.
