My friend planted a tropicana canna in a pot ( I don't know how big the pot is)
about how big can she expect this canna to get???

In pots they usually don't get very big. Around 4ft or so is average. :~)
I don't know pepper, at work we put them in 3 gal pots and they get over 5' some closer to 6'. I think water and fertilization are key to having great growth, along with understanding what cultivar grows to what height...ie Journeys End is a dwarf and will only get to 3', Tropicanna's height range is 4-6' so if she waters properly, fertilizes well and has a large enough pot she should see some very satisfying results!
That would be cool if it does get that big. :~)
