A Math Question...

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

How many Sweet Autumn Clematis will it take, to cover a fence 23 feet long? The fence is in West Texas, and they would be planted now.

They grow 25-30 ft. so if you want to cover 23 feet you can plant one or two. They do tend to take over, though unless you prune them in the spring. Here's a link http://gardenauthor.blogspot.com/2007/09/sweet-autumn-clematis.html

Oh I know! My yard, is an example of what happens if you don't prune them...I was asking because someone wanted to buy some and she has a fence 23 feet long....I told her she needed 6..she wanted 8 and she may hate me later! But she was warned about pruning them...she is in West Texas.
