Spreading Diatomaceous Earth?

Anderson, SC(Zone 7b)

Do you have any tips for spreading this stuff? How do you guys do it?

I'm putting out my tomato babies & my compost has slugs in it - I don't want to put slugs in with my babies! :((

I spreaded some by hand, but you have to be careful not to breathe the dust. They do have some applicators you can buy to put it down. They escape me at this moment though.

Yes, I've seen those, but was trying to get by without spending any more money. ;) I have masks I use for lots of stuff, so I'll use one for this, too. Thanks!! :))

I use an empty liquid dish detergent bottle as a puffer for DE. One like the Seventh Generation detergent with a flip top cap. Just a gentle squeeze will send a DE cloud over the plants. It doesn't get clogged like some other bottles and it's easy to get the underside of leaves. I know other folk who use a flour sifter :)

Oh, that's a cool idea! Thanks! :)))
