What veggies do NOT like wood ash in the soil? I think I read that if the soil is alkaline never use ashes - acidic soil is ok in small amounts. I'm hoping to use some on my corn patch and mix small amounts about 6" down into the soil. Pure wood ashes with no plastic, junk, etc in them. Thanks.
Wood Ashes for Soil Amendment
Most places that I have lived have naturally acid soil soil, so I use all the wood ashes I can lay my hands on. Especially beneficial on potassium loving plants like Irish potatoes, beets, lima beans etc.
Thanks, Farmerdill. I put the bucket of ashes in the spot where my beans will go next month. Also put a light mixture of soil/ash towards the outside of my hungry strawberry plants. I'm still not sure about corn but will read more.
