In past years I think I remember my Iris budding out with nice long STRAIGHT stems. For some reason this season most of stems start out with crooked shapes that eventually do straighten. The leaf blades from which the stem emerges seems to be too tight for the growing buds to burst through; when it finally does get free of the leaf it is crooked. I am new at this, so am I just not remembering correctly?
What is happening to these stems?
It is most time weather related cold , hot , cold .
I have one called Luminosity doing that. The leaves sort of remind me of celery that had been frozen then thawed, you can sort of see the water cells in the base of the leaves. There are 2 flower stalks emerging but they are struggling a bit to make it out of the tight leaves. That's the only one doing that...the others all seem fine...weird:)
Tazzy, that is a very accurate description of our weather during the last 2 weeks so you are probably correct. Thank you.
