Between Wagoner and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, there
is a tree on the side of the highway adorned with dozens
of shoes. I've called local radio stations
seeking information no one seems to know.
How did this tree begin? Was it a group of teenagers
tossing out old shoes? Did one pair catch on a branch,
setting off an occasional donation over the years? I'm
not sure how long the tree has featured shoes, but
I've had my eye on it for a few years, at least three.
Friday evening I talked hubby into pulling over at the
side of the highway so I could take a picture of it.
