Stepped outside yesterday and heard the oddest sound! Turned out to be a new visitor for me, and since I've been bird watching for years it was pretty exciting to need an ID! Had my baby with me so this is as close as I could get, hopefully someone can tell what they are. Boy were they noisey!
Guinea fowl. Domesticated farm poultry, originally from Africa.

they make great watch dogs. They make that noise anytime a stranger is around.
I've spotted some in Middleborough MA. They were sitting on a bridge rail over train tracks near the junction of Routes 23 and 105.
