From Splashacata X Puccini. First from this cross to open.
Let's See Your 2008 Seedlings
Wow! Those are stunning. The parents are first class, too!
beautiful! bravo
Nice job there. You sure do have an "eye" for crosses. Enjoy your blooms!
Laura
Thanks everyone... I appreciate the kind comments. Hope you have a great bloom season.
Dan
i really love the third one down. What a beauty!
They are spectacular ! Are they going to be available ?
I would like to be the first in line.lol
Congratulations Dan. They are stunning.
flowrgirl1... Thanks for your comment. It's one on my favorites too.
RODICAP... Thanks for your interest and comment. I'll give them at least one more year to see how they stand up before considering making them available. I'm pleased that you like them. I'll keep you in mind.
Thanks Doss.
Here's one more. Several from this cross bloomed last year, and were all very similar, but this is my favorite of the lot.
Really like the red as well as the first series you show. Keep an eye out for request for guest plants in AIS bulletin to send to WI. That is a radical change of climate and will give you a lot of information. The Superstition garden parents which you used for the first series do well elsewhere. L
Love that two-tone red!
Some very beautiful seedling !
great job of picking parents ^_^
I hope all the irises in Austin are still in great shape since farther south.
Thanks for your comments everyone. I find this the most exciting aspect of growing iris. I hope you folks in colder climates will show some of your seedlings as your season goes full swing.
IrisMA... Thanks for your suggestion on sending guest plants to the next AIS Convention. I'm sure I'll do that eventually, but just having fun right now. I have several that I've given enough time to prove themselves here, and would like to see how they do elsewhere. What better than as a quest at the next convention. - I hope you were treated well while in Texas. Sorry you missed out on some of the early bearded blooms. Our season starts in late March, and is mostly finished by early May. Looks like it may last longer this year, possibly due to our unusually cooler weather. I'm sure the season in Austin is a little earlier.
Here's another of mine that bloomed for the first time this week. It's growing in a pot and the tag is missing, so it will have to be an unknown, but I'm pretty sure it's a cross of Cherubs Smile X Conjuration.
Thanks Again, Dan
I don't know a thing about crossing the varieties but your seedlings are gorgeous:) It's so cool that the same two parents crossed don't produce the same seedlings each time...I guess just like siblings everyone is different:lol:
Just gorgeous Dan!
Sending flowers to convention gives them 2 more yrs until they are seen. Keep them under number so you don't waste the names. Bloom way past peak for TBs in Austin this yr. You never know until the convention ys but I saw some interesting plants there even if many others had weather problems, It's the best way to try them in another area. I hope the April AIS Bulletin has the call for plants for 2010.
It does Lucy...will be sending some of mine this time...:)
D
People in this area seem to have their Bulletin & ours isn't here yet. Complain complain! It will get here but I have to grump somewhere.
hahaha

My AIS April bulleting arrived just after I returned from Austin.
Lucky you! Ours still missing. L
