Thank you Resin and Pelletory, I thought some kind of Finch but it is the first time I have seen them here . Pelletory, great site, is the purple shading on the map where they are supposed to be?, as Florida is not shaded.

In the past they were considered exotics in Fla. Their main range is north of there.

oh wow that is brilliant, I will keep watching them. They seem to particularly like going into the cypress trees by the door and on that corner of the roof where I took the photo of them.

They thrive in my area of Western NY. They especially like nesting in wreaths on front doors, and hanging baskets! Babies hatch and leave very quickly - a couple weeks.

Sadly something destroyed the nest with the eggs. I think it was a local black snake who also robbed anoter nest in our pineapple palms :(
