I was roto-tilling today and found an odd root, I vaguely remember planting a rattlesnake master in the general area, but I dont recall what it's root system looked like... The thing I found looked like a smaller fat brownish carrot with numerous fat roots coming off of it. It had the very beginning of shoots so I replanted it and marked it with a stick. Is that what a RSM root look like?
Rattlesnake master Question
I don't have any first-hand knowledge of this plant but found this description at a web site
The root is the part used and will be a great deal stronger than the other parts. It is not a large root and has a good many rootlets coming off the main root. The root is usually from one to three inches long and sometimes the young plants may have only small ball shaped tubers. They are soft and somewhat whitish inside. Very earthy in their odor.

I hope someone comes along that has personal knowledge of what they look like
Here's a picture of a Rattlesnake Master root. The picture is the property of Prairie Moon Nursery. Their site shows images of many prairie plant roots. http://www.prairiemoon.com
