According to the "Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening," published by J.I. Rodale in 1972, (please look at the website below), each vegetable requires specific NPK values.

Fertilizers for specific plants
Good quality compost will provide your plants with most of what you need. Soil prepared with rich organic materials will help your plants do well. Don't get so hung up on the "details" you miss the big picture. If you look closely, most of the veggies are almost all in the same range of need. Some things, like corn and tomatoes are heavy feeders, so you need to side dress them with additional amendments during the growing season.
