They're awful pics . . . anyone want to try to identify this one (all the same bird)?

Sedge Warbler?
And thanks for starting the new ID thread and also for ID'ing the Purple Finch on the previous thread.
Nope! Sedge Warblers live in dense vegetation (sedges, reeds, etc), not on the ground!

Kind of looks like a house sparrow.
I would say some kind of sparrow too. A member of the Family Emberizidae. The beak looks conical to me.
A member of the Family Emberizidae
Yep!
A female Reed Bunting, Emberiza schoeniclus?
Nope! Clue: found on both sides of the Atlantic
Lapland Longspur?
Yep, well, Lapland Bunting ;-)

Anhinga
It looked like a larger bird, but you are probably right, thanks Ned.
Song Sparrow

Gee sorry, he just looked so different.....
Yep, Eastern Phoebe

Congratulations Rose!
Hi Sheila,
My guess would be a Blue Grosbeak with those brown wingbars and silvery beak.
Resin will know for sure. He's beautiful; nice pic!

Yep. Bill is not large enough for Blue Grosbeak, which is the other possibility on plumage.
Edit: to clarify, a first-summer bird (~10 months old), which is why it isn't all blue. Pelle's post wasn't there when I started my post!

Congrats Sheila!! Was that pic taken at your home?! I'm so excited for you if it was...and for me because that means they are in our area and I might see one some day!
Yes, the DH took it this week. He was describing it as having blue from the chin down the breast. I was surprised that it was something I hadn't seen before. I think I am going to enjoy his retirement. LOL!
Red-tailed Hawk

Very nice pic Rose!!
Thanks Resin and Pelle!
The best I could come up with was a female Yellow-rumped Warbler
Exactly right!

Thanks Resin :-)
Eastern Phoebe

Congrats nanny!!
I believe this is a Black Chinned Hummer, but I didn't know if they should be in my area yet. The Ruby Throateds have been here a couple weeks, but he definitely doesn't have red on his throat. He is the first hummer I've seen and he's become a real regular already at the feeder on the front porch.
Most of the time you can't see it, but at certain angles I could see a deep purple gorget. I tried for a while to get that angle with the sun to show his purple, but this was the best I could do.
