My Irises
I am not a big iris fan, but those are really beautiful!
They are the only flower I have found that the deer have yet to munch on.
Maybe I should look into adding more color. Maybe I would like them better.
They come in just about every color you can think of except for true red and green. You can get ruffles and lace with multitudes of colors. they are the best.
i really like all mine! They flower for a long time
Unlike daylilies that are only for a DAY
Michele yours are pretty! we will have to trade some!
Of course, i love to trade.
I like the nice stinky ones.
I had some at our old place. The few I have now have no scent.
I havent noticed if any of mine lack fragrance. For the most part they all smell like grapes, cotton candy or fruity. Yum!!!!! I want a eat em.
michelle
There are some with no scent. Probably why the deer don't eat them.
If they smelled like candy...they would be munched.
In general, deer dont really care for iris. They tend to eat everything else first. I live in town so i never worry about critters except for the rare bunny rabit siting oh and those bugger chipmunks. Cute but they eat my crocus!!!
I love all your iris pictures. I love iris. For me they multiply so fast I can't keep up with dividing them. Last summer I'm ashamed to say I pulled out hundreds of them and what I couldn't give away I composted. :( I'm sure I missed some of the tubers so I know they'll be back. They were really pretty too. They just got away from me. I have reblooming iris. I think the purple and white one's name is Duke of Earl or something like that and the yellow one is immortality............no that's not right. I forget. So shoot me. :)

I am going to have to come by your house dressed all in black & stealthfully take them for myself!!LOL-JK-they are beautiful though!! Where did you get some of them-I erally like Merlot, KIentucky Derby, Thornbird & Ceramics!!
I was given the older varieties such as kentucky derby from an old gardening friend. I got the iris bug from her. She had the most amazing gardens filled with daffs, crocus, peonies, pink poppies, lilacs, irises, and so much more. She passed away last summer at around 90. Great gardener and friend!!!!
The rest i have either traded irises to get or purchased. Mostly trades. Merlot, thornbird and indian ceramics came from trades. Gardenweb.com is a great place to get new plants which is where they all came from through trades.
Thanks
Michelle
I AM SOOOO JEALOUS!!! They truly are beautiful:)
They are the best plant to me. Im glad the blooms are out for just a few weeks because the anticipation builds for the next season making all the better
