Links to native and invasive plant lists

I have been thinking that a "Sticky " thread at the top of the forum would be a good idea so people can more easy access the list of native plants to their own State.

If you scroll down on this page and click on the search bar for the states names you will find all of them there, select one then click on the submit button for the one you have selected and you will see all the native plants for that state.

I like the native plants lists. I think the invasives lists would be more useful in the Invasive Plants forum, especially since most of them are introduced and not native plants.

BTW, I don't know if this will be helpful but I just reposted this link in the Mid Atlantic forum. It has a list of native plant nurseries in the Chesepeake Bay watershed states - MD, NJ, NY, NC, PA and VA.

For California, www.calflora.org is my absolute favorite reference. To access much of it you have to sign up for an account, but it's free. It covers pretty much any plant that occurs in the wild in CA (and it tells you whether it's native, introduced, invasive, etc). I find it to be a great resource when I find things growing at the beach or in a local park--you can search by plant family or genus, by the county that you found it in, by the type of plant community it was growing in, etc. And there are photos for most of the more common ones. It's rare that I find something growing in the wild that I'm not able to ID by looking around on there.

I use the state search at wildflower.org http://www.wildflower.org/plants/ when I want to search for plants native to New Mexico. The search can be refined in many ways.

This site shows images of seeds, SEEDLINGS, and fruits. Why emphasis on seedlings? I do not know how often I have tried finding a good place to verify the seedlings I have coming up. It does not have everything, but more than I've seen elsewhere.

I didn't see this site listed here.. It's an up and coming search engine/key covering native and introduced wildflowers, trees, shrubs, mosses, etc. of North America. It's a great work that is a compilation of, and relies heavily on, already existing data from numerous sources.. Which it includes links to in each species. Works great on my android phone(no download) and you can narrow it down to your location or any other location you'd like to take a survey of. Drop down menus to limit results by description, name, class, family etc. Search by area. Search by common name or binomial. I'm underselling what it is.. Thank you Steven K. Sullivan for your efforts, past and present! So many books I don't have to lug around anymore.
