Iris companions

Iris companions--Just a note on verbenas, fine companion if you are just growing iris, but if you want to hybridize don't grow them. the verbena bud moth like to eat iris seedpods. found verbena in spring Hill nursery, goes on the recycle pile, however other catalogs may offer verbena.

I've got Lamium growing among some of mine -- seems to have an open enough habit that it doesn't cause moisture issues, but it's growing taller than I anticipated... I'm nearly losing sight of a couple of IBs at the edge of the bed! LOL

A lot of that back bed has irises interplanted with columbines. That seems to be working out well so far, but all the plants are young... time will tell. :-)
