Frostweed, Verbesina virginica;
http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=VEVI3
This is a beautiful deciduous plant with lovely large leaves and white flowers in late summer.
In the winter the stems explode after a freeze and make amazing fluffy ice sculptures.
I love this plant, and it is native to many states, so a lot of people should be able to enjoy it.
A close up of the flower.

Fantastic! Awesome nature!
Very very cool, I was blessed to be given four huge plants of this one from Josehine - they bloom like crazy and the fall show is stunning.
I love this plant aand have major zone envy that you all can grow it.
