I'm having a hard time finding on-line retail nurseries who offer bare root, T. occidental 'Techny', A. melanocarpa (Black Chokeberry) or V. dentatum (Arrowood). I find wholesalers, though. Any suggestions?

Sorry Sarahn, I wish I could help.

Forestfarm has, like, everything. Did you do a search in the Plantfiles for vendors?
Have you looked up http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/1746/ - they dont ahve much but give them a call and they just might. Best part HUGE plants for supper cheap... we did a big group of plants at the school this way.

Is Vernon Barns and Son just wholesale or will they sell small orders retail? How do you order from them? They don't have a website.
They dont have a site, they will sell to anyone, and it cost between 1.00 to 3.00 per tree. Shrubs, Trees, and Native Plants - and they are always really great. You can get one or twenty with no problem. They have a wholesale cat and a normal one - the wholesale is MUCH cheaper yet but you have to buy in groups of 10 to 20 for each plant. When we planted the hedge row we bought that way and very very simple and easy. They would be a Watchdog top 20 company if they had a web site - I really think that, but they stay low cost and simple staying off line and I love it!
Of yes, I checked out DG Plantfiles and found it to be very helpful.
