Trying to find a dwarf weeping pussy willow

Loudonville , OH(Zone 5b)

At the house I owned previously, I had put in extensive landscaping. When I sold the house, I put it in the contract that I was to get starts from any plants that I wished. However, shortly after moving I ended up incapacitated with a herniated disc in my back. When I was ready to go back & divide some of the plants, I was unable to get anyone to help me. The people I had sold the property to were very nasty, so I never got sarts of anything. One of the plants that I had was a Dwarf Weeping Pussy Willow. In the 8 or 9 years that I had it, it never got more that 28 inches tall. The branches curved down forming a perfectly round ball. My ducks always made their nest inside it each summer. I have been unable to find any plant that is even similar and all of the many growers I have contacted say they have never heard of anything like it. I would have liked to at least gotten a few cuttings from it to see if it would reproduce true or if it was a graft.
Has anyone ever heard of this type of pussy willow?

Salix caprea 'Kilmarnock'.

But to be honest, it isn't a plant I'd recommend at all - once it's more than a few years old, it gets to look hideous with dead twigs and messy shape.

The one I had never got messy looking. The catkins weren't very large and didn't show up well, but I just loved the shape of the shrub.

I bought one of these at Lowe's last spring. I planted it outside and it's beautiful. Here's some links to a couple different varieties...

Here's one that's a bonsai...

How large is the one you got from Lowes or how large is it supposed to get? All the ones I see advertised are said to get much taller than what I had. Mine was only about 2 feet tall and about 2 feet wide. It formed an almost perfect ball.

Mine is about 2 feet tall. It sounds a lot like the one you had. They are very cute. I'm pretty sure the tag said French Weeping pussy willow. They were in small pots around mother's day. I got one for my Mom because she likes them.

I saw one at the Agway in Keene NH last week, but that doesn't help you. Pretty thing. 19.95. Patti
