Need advince from gardners in the coastal south

Bensenville, IL(Zone 5a)

I want to sent my sister some divisions of iris pallida 'variegata'. I live in the Chicago area (zone 5a), she lives in coastal Louisiana (zone 9a). What time of year would be be best time to send to her? Thanks for any help.

Metairie, LA(Zone 9b)

I have no experience at all with Iris pallida. In South Louisiana, we divide and replant Louisiana irises in the fall, beginning in late August. The growth cycle is just beginning for these irises. I would guess that you could send the irises in the fall or early spring (right now would be great). Just do it before it gets hot here (late April) so they can become established before the worst of the summer heat.

Thanks for the advice. I will divide them in the fall and send them to her. Every time I talk to my sister she tells me how great the weather is but here the iris clumps are under a foot fo snow. lol
