12 Month Block of the Month Swap

QUILT BLOCK OF THE MONTH

This swap will be limited to 12 participants. It will run for 12 months, so please be sure you can commit to that before you sign up.

A block pattern will be posted on the 1st of each month and blocks should be mailed to me by the first of the next month.

Each month a different person from the group selects the block that will be done for that month. From the people that sign up, I will do a drawing to determine the order and post it in the first entry on the thread showing what month each person is responsible for. ByndeweedBeth provided us with a link for a great source for patterns. The website is [e-mail:HYPERLINK@www.sewquilty.com]. It is not required that you select from that site. If you select a pattern from some other source, you are responsible for getting a copy (preferably electronically) or providing the link to the site to the other members of the group. I will collect email addresses from the members and the pattern can be sent via email if a link is not available. All patterns must be available at no charge.

Please be sure that the pattern you select is for a 12” block.

Make 2 blocks each month. Keep one for you and send one to me. Each month, I will send the 12 blocks sent to me to the person who picked the block for that month. Be sure to put your username and real name on the block that you send to me. You can pin it on or put a label on it, whichever works better for you.

Block Specifics:

1. All fabric should be 100% cotton. Please wash all fabric before
making block.
2. Do not use any spray starch on blocks, spray sizing is OK.
3. A block should measure 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 when finished.
4. Make 1 block for yourself and 1 block to send to me.
5. Fabric is completely up the individual as long as it is 100% cotton.
6. Cut off date for you mailing to me will be the 1st of the month
7. Remember after you make a quilt we would love to see your results!!

If something happens and you will not be able to complete a month or the 12 months, please let me know as soon as possible. I realize that everyone has a life outside of the swap, but please try to plan, so that things will go smoothly. It is very disappointing when you do your part on a swap and some one else doesn’t. I hope this doesn’t sound harsh, but I want this to be a positive and fun experience for everyone.

Everything above is still current, except that the person who selects the block that month can choose a general request for the colors of the blocks that they will receive from the other people.
