A year or so back I saw an add in a gardening catalog for blue hydrangeas that are tolerant of any soil type, will be blue regardless of the soil, and won't turn pink. Unfortunately I didn't save the catalog or the name of the plant or catalog. Is such a thing possible, does it exist or was it just a catalog 'grabber'?
blue hydrangeas and soil types
I've certainly never heard of one, all the blue ones I know of will turn pink if you raise the pH.
The color of Hydrangea blooms are soil type dependent, just as ecrane says. Don't buy into marketing gimmicks. They're all beautiful.
