Vanilla Planifolia

Caddo Mills, TX(Zone 8a)

I just bought this from Logee's and something happened to the bottom part of the stem. I think that it was twisted wrong and now it is dying. How can I get the rest of it to root or just start new with a fresh plant? The dead part is on the bottom of the plant, and I have at least 8 inches above it that is fine. Tina

I have the variegated vanilla planifolia, someone told me it doesn't take cold temps so I brought my new one into the house, and set it in the kitchen window, took a bunch of cuttings off it, stuck them into potting soil, andall are rooted and growing in the kitchen window, but it's very warm in my house. if you have a little node sticking out, cut below it and stick it in some potting soil, in a sunny window in the house, it took along time for mine to root but they all rooted.
