Dutch iris?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 6b)

I never see any mention of Dutch iris here. Is that because they're not true irises, or because they are not popular? Just curious.

Dutch iris are true iris. They are iris bulbs rather than rhizomes so are not grown by as many people as they have different climate requirements.

Hi chicochi3, I am growing Dutch Iris for the first time this year. I planted about 60 bulbs in October in a raised bed, here's what they look like today. Can't wait for the blooms!

Yes, I have a few in my yard looking like that, too. I just haven't been able to find any info on growing them, so I am using the "plant it and hope for the best" method!

Here is the info I used when I planted mine. I hope this helps!

Inherited several from my mother. Mine seem to bloom very much like the ordinary iris only much more delicate. For me, they are just perfect.

Thanks, everyone, for the help :=)

they can rot in wet ground and not as hardy as rhizomous iris in that respect.
