Have you ever tried drop spinning, where you use a drop spindle and not a wheel.. much more convienent, cheaper and you can do it anywhere.
Log on to Craigs list dot org for your city, and ask for one there.
I have a couple books on spinning--hand spinning and making your own spinning wheel . lmk if interested
