Deb, nice shots of the hawk. and cute little kinglet.
Rose your dark-eyed Junco is so sweet. and that female Cardinal seem to be enjoying the sun very much.
Granny The Cardinal is such a beautiful bird, very vibrant color. I can only see them here. The Red bird, I have here, is the Pine Grosbeak.

I think this is a juvenile male cardinal because he is so dull in color.

Our Harry's seemed to have disappeared....Nice shot Burn!

Wow what lovely pictures, I really like that waterer debnes. Where did you get it at?

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Ah please, rub it in why don't you. Aconites in flower!!! It's been so cold, my memory is frozen. Have to reboot. What's a flower?????

here's one for you Resin, I think I found it.

Gorgeous pictures, everyone! Dinu, great job starting the thread! Love that Great Tit, and the background is so beautiful.

dellrose, those would be calendar quality pics if not for the darned twigs, especially the cardinal! The shimmer on his feathers is breathtaking.

Debnes, I love the first one of the hawk. He looks like he just heard a really good joke. Your little kinglet is a doll too. They quickly became one of my favorites.

Funny how almost every time someone mentions a Dark Eyed Junco, they use the word "sweet". I wish I saw more of them around here. The only one I've seen is the poor *sweet* female who had flown into the window and didn't make it.

Seems like the Northern Mockingbirds are stalking me to have their pictures taken lately. This one was in a Yaupon Holly outside Home Depot yesterday. I was walking by with my cart and he was not more than 5 feet from me. He patiently waited while I got my camera out of my purse and allowed me to put it practically in his face as he sat and posed among the red berries.

Wow great pics everyone!!

Resin, it's looking very springish there with the aconites blooming, and all those sprouts beside it..:-)

...oO (Debnes checks map for 55N latitude...)

Love the yellow!!

Kathy ann I posted the info you asked for about the water feeder here:

Some wonderful shots of lovely birds and feeders. In particular, I lean towards dellrose's Female Cardinal. The blue sky makes a difference.

Here he is getting ready to go to the feeder area.

I love your Tufted Titmouse picture, Rose!! And, twigs add "character" to a picture anyway.

Pelle, your Carolina Wren looks so fluffy and cute!!

Ok, what is this "sun" people keep talking about? Thanks for the picture of the bright, happy flowers, Resin!

Brainerd, MN

It's finally 20 degrees ABOVE zero here today, rather than below. Feeding frenzy going on. When it is that cold the birds are so puffed up you can see the tiniest feathers fluffed. I know my down-filled coat keeps me toasty warm - must be the same insulating action for the birds.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes sybil it is just like that down coat for them, :-)

PK Your Mockingbird would make a great Christmas card pic..

Love the wren Pelle!

Hey pelletory... I thought I had a Red Bellied woodpecker a couple years back during the bird count. I cried my eyes out when he killed himself hitting my window. Upon going out there to bury him, he had yellow underneath in his tail feathers so he was a Flicker ...right? I have a few that visit and I don't know which one they could be. They look so much alike. Is that the only way you can tell what it is? ....(waiting for them to die and see if they have yellow underneath...lol just joking) Thanks!

Goldsboro, NC(Zone 7b)

pelletory, I love that woodpecker! I never knew that they have such red eyes!

dellrose, that female cardinal looks cold!

debnes, do you get many hawk visitors? This one looks like he's done this before! :)

gardenpom, I've always loved those mourning doves. I love they way they sing.

Resin, I have a good friend in Northumberland! Small world, eh?

Nice pics everyone! Thanks for sharing!

Goldsboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Here's a cute one. It looks like the House Finch is asking "Hey, who's this other guy?"

Thumbnail by MrsKinsey
Goldsboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Mr. Goldfinch must have told all his buddies about this feeder. I hadn't seen a single goldfinch and then just a couple of days ago they started coming out of the woodwork.

I am happy to see the yellow coming back on the goldfinches. I am still learning how to best use my camera, so feel a little intimidated by all the great photographers out there, but here is a pic of male and female cardinal.

Thumbnail by JulieQ
Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

The male cardinals remind me of raccoons with their masks, or maybe it is his ski mask...."This is a holdup"...lol

JulieQ, looks good to me! No need to feel intimidated, the nuts who live next door! lol
