Dinette & 2 chairs (free)

I saw it on the way home from work. Of course I went back to look. It was a glass top table with a heavy *faux bright brass* base. I know its faux because the *brass* is peeling! Of course it went into my truck☺ The chairs are junk. I will salvage the casters & bases. I think I'll strip the *brass* and paint it to look like black cast iron. I'm not sure what to do with the glass. It's smoke grey. I thot about painting the underside but what color(s)? Artist I'm not:( Can a glass tabletop be re-ground to remove the scratches?
I'll take a pic tomorrow.
