Looking for Chicken Litter in Tallahassee anyone know where?

Tallahassee, FL(Zone 8b)

My garden and yard has been so severly neglected by the previous owners. I need a good amount of chicken litter to get things back in order. Anyone know where I can pick up or have delivered about 2 or 3 pickup trucks worth?

Hi, here in Thomasville, just north of you, the best bet is Mushroom Compost, which is mostly aged manure (cow, I believe) I get mine from Plantation Landscape Supply on Highway 19 in Thomasville. There may be a closer source for you since the main mushroom farm in the area is located in Quincy, FL.

You might also try the Market Bulletin, both GA and FL publish them. The ads are free and a lot of the farmers use them to advertise free manure.

Good luck, and I hope your garden turns out well!

Hey Erin,
I to rec the Ga.market bulletin. It's Great to have on hand! The worm casting are from a local grower/farmer here in Douglas. I only use for a top dressing in my perennial beds cause it's cost $20 per 50 lbs. Just wanted to share it with you.

Best of luck to you finding liter.
Come & join us in April, I'll leave the Welcome mat out for you.

I appreciate the invite unfortunatly my two loves are conflicting--I'm already going to an antique auction on Saturday. Considering how much manure I need, the worm castings are way to expensive. I read a study a while back that said chicken litter is superior to the other main types of manure for most plants but I don't know if worm casting were part of that study. So I'm set on the chicken.

I will definitely check out the Market Bulletins Thanks!

BB,
