My Lettuce

Frankfort, KY(Zone 6a)

I built a 4 ft by 2 ft box and put it in the Cellar under the GH....
Well I built it in the Cellar because it would not fit through the opening to the Cellar.

Cut aluminum cans to fit into holes cut in 1/2 in. styrofoam.
Foam floats on top of 10 gal of nutrient, only 2 1/2 in deep.
Cellar is kept around 75 F
Lettuce started in GroDan cubes, with clay balls around them.
Plants are 1/2 in. tall today.

Today I am setting up a 400 watt Metal Halide light mounted in a 10 qt. bucket to supply light.
Note: vent slots in bucket.
The hole in the floor, background is the entrance to the Cellar.
I intend to set up more vegs., DW complaining about the price of tomatoes....
We moved to KY from South FL, there you can get almost Any veg year round.

Hi Bob , I gave up on the Lettuce...the light was not right ???
Then I got busy with tomato seedlings, not hydro, I intend to get back to Hydroponic this spring.
Need to get a water line to the GH , carrying gallon jugs is a pain.
Your garden looks great.

Dwight
