Marylyn--love your salvia pics-- do yours 'winter over'? I have a 'black and blue' that I'm hoping will survive this winter with a bit of mulch and some luck. What do you think? t.

Hebron, KY

Tabasco,

I have a couple of Salvias, the rosy pink colored ones that survived this past Winter, but all the other Salvias just die, including the Black and Blue ones. The Lady in Red Salvias will reseed (I help them along too) and I'll get a few new plants the following year.

You can try mulching the Salvias and hopefully, they'll come back. With the late freezes we get in the Winter and/or Spring, I don't have alot of hope for ones I know aren't hardy here, but we can always be 'hopeful'!

Wish you luck! ;-)

Marilynbeth - enjoyed the photos. I just started feeding birds and it's a lot fun to watch them. Eleanor

Thanks Pelle! Yes, the House Finches seem to multiply 'like rabbits' every year! ;-)

Thanks Eleanor! Welcome to the Bird Watching Forum! Birds are such a joy to see, watch and listen to! You'll get lots of pleasure from them! I feed them every day of every year and in the Spring/Summer, we get to see them with their little ones! In the Spring and Fall migrations, we get to see other beautiful birds such as, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks! In the Spring/Summer/early Fall, we have 4 Hummingbird feeders with plain sugar water that I change daily. Hummingbirds are beautiful and so neat to watch!

Welcome Grammyphoeb , Like Marilyn said, you will enjoy all the wonderful birds pictures. it puts color in our white world. I've seen your pictures on Northeast forum, and you get a lot of the white fluffy stuff too.
Marilyn, I still enjoy looking at your birds.
