Mango tree

Dallas, TX

I have a mango tree about four feet tall and four years old that i started from seed. It has started to bloom for the first time. My question is will it bear fruit? It's in a greenhouse now. Thank You, Jerry

Seedling mango trees will eventually bear fruit but it will not be true to seed. It usually takes 5 to 7 years for seedling to produce fruit as opposed to 2-3 years for grafted plants.

I have mango trees which I've grown from seed. They have flowered for the last two years but the fruit has dropped while very small. I'm hoping to get some fruit this year. I think this is their 6th year.

Most Mangos need to be cross pollinated. Our neighbor had a very large tree that he said never fruited until I planted a Carrie mango in our yard and then it went crazy with fruit. I got the Carrie because it is suppose to be one of the few varieties that self pollinate. Chances are your tree needs to come out of your greenhouse to increase it's chances of setting fruit.
