Yay! I saw that. People are on Games even more this time of year.
Freeeeezing here. About 20 with major wind chill.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 8
My daughter closed her office, so I am home too. Yeah!
Great!
Well, I'm at work - but not working! Does that count?
i'm at home, not writing my anthro paper...
geez it was windy here last night. i have NEVER heard wind like that since we moved here. i thought the windows were going to blow in!
I slept through it all! I'm here at home taking a break from a report. I'm being good. The sun's out and the icicles are dripping a bit even though it is very cold.
Yes - very windy here too. Still is. My yard ornament might be in Westchester.
I agree about the wind! Two weeks ago I removed a lot of the rear of the Hinoki cypress outside of this bay window and the two hollies since we're due for two new bay windows (in this guest room and the master bedroom) since they leak so much air. If I hadn't trimmed the shrubs I think I'd have been awake all night long with that wind.
Victor I think I found your ornament-it blew north!
Thanks booj! You can use it this year and return it in January!
At this rate it will be back this year.
You mean 'full circle'?
Wow!
Is it ever cold this morning! Below zero kind of cold!

22 and clear - NO WIND! Celeste - 7 degrees is always unfair in my book. Stay warm!
I saw that yesterday, Pixie! Hurray! Now we're working towards 5, then 6 and then 7.
Cold, cold, cold! Single digits with weak sunshine and thankfully no wind. We should only get brushed by the storm tomorrow, most snow up north. Warm up at the end of the week. Brrrrr!
Cold! 0 degrees this morning and bitter!! Eleanor
Ouch! Should hit the 40's tomorrow!
Really? Wow - that could mean some of the snow will melt - but none of the storm drains are clear. So the roads will have puddles - then lakes, then frozen lakes once the sun sets.
One of the unexpected effects of the solar panels is mini-avalanches! The bottom of the pile heats up quicker and away goes the mass of snow or ice. Makes a huge rumble when it falls onto the lower roof. Yesterday huge chunks of ice were flying off. A bit scary.
27, overcast and calm here now.
I must say im sick of snow already!

(catches a sob in her throat and said in a small voice)When is Spring?
Oh,my, poor you. Our pixie is being buried in more snow.
I will be able to plant bulbs for the next couple of days and dream about spring too. My first tulip bloomed on April 13th last year, but we have a late spring start even though we are way milder here due to the gulf stream. When does everyone else have their first tulips bloom? In fact it will be fun to post any first bloom dates here. There is a columnist in our local paper who always posts the first crocus report. Everyone vies for that honor. I have never been close, but I am planting some this year in a primo spot for early bloom, I hope. Patti

Poor Celeste! Seems like only last week you were calling me chicken for wanting to get away from snow / winter. Oh wait - it WAS last week!! You do have my sympathy. Go to the Spring dreaming thread I started - it helps.
We have at least 3ft of snow, 2' 4" more and I AM buried! Little people get lost in snow...you'll be calling me "the lost snow pixie" if this stuff doesn't stop!
My DB who no longers lives in Maine sent me this, he thought it was funny, true but funny.
A Winter Statistic
98% OF ALL AMERICANS SAY "OH SH*T!" BEFORE GOING IN THE DITCH ON A SLIPPERY ROAD.
THE OTHER 2% ARE FROM MAINE AND THEY SAY, "HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS…"
I've never been in the ditch, but I believe it.
Close to 30 today and fair. About 8" of crust on the ground here. Looks like a snow/ice mess coming in this weekend.
Very cute Pixie. I might use another four letter word but I hope I never have to find out.
Cold still here, started out in single digits but the temp is all the way up to 26 with sunny partly cloudy skies and not much wind. Waiting for the above freezing temps to melt some of this snow/ice before any more arrives.
Pixie, great joke, I can't wait to tell my son who lived in Maine for a few years and put his brand new truck in a ditch one winter. Patti
Oh im sure he'll love it!
After all those snow reports I'm feeling guilty at 38 degrees right now and today's high, while I shopped, was a blamy 43. Another few hours and I'm done!
Have no idea what the weather is like - lots of snow and cold. Get in the car - drive to the mall - shop - drive home, get in the house, dream about gardens . . .
last exam is tomorrow.
then i'll think about xmas.
who had this great idea to let school run on theis bloody long?
You're in luck. Longer store hours and better sales.
But less stuff on the shelves!! Don't want to be a scrooge but I went looking for snow pants for Colin to keep at my house and only found one complete snow suit in his size. That was after looking in 3 or 4 stores!! He has a snow suit but his mother forgets to dress him in it or to pack it in the diaper bag - he needs to have warmer clothes for being outside so i will keep that one at my house. Eleanor
p.s. - I'm sure there is still plenty left as long as you don't want size 2T snow pants!!!
