darkest clematis

Libby, MT(Zone 4b)

Who can tell me what the darkest clematis are? I'm thinking of putting one with a once blooming soft pink rose. I know I will have to get the blooming time right.

I saw one I think is called Nigrita (I know I spelled that wrong).

Here are a few dark colored Clematis that you might consider:

Negritianka: http://www.chalkhillclematis.com/nursery_shop/clematis/negritianka.html

Black Prince: http://www.chalkhillclematis.com/nursery_shop/clematis/black_prince.html

Thanks Shirley,
Negritianka was what I was wanting to find. Boy I really blew the spelling. Thanks for Black Prince. While I was looking up Negritianka I found one called Romantika that is suppose to be real dark also. DM

You're in luck because "Negritianka" and/or "Romantika" are both available from Chalk Hill Clematis Nursery. If you ordered them now, you'd probably receive them in early Spring.

Happy planting!

I grow Negritianka and just love it. People always comment on it because it's dark but has a lot of color in it. It's also the easiest one I've had to get established and bloom a lot.

Doss,
Thanks for the comments. It's nice to here from people who are growing them already. DM
