TREE LOVERS

Uncasville, CT(Zone 6a)

I grew up in Southern Oregon and, as such, have a deep love for trees and forests.

Yesterday I found a heart-breaking article about the trees lost in hurricane Katrina. 320 million! Can you imagine? Anyway, later in the day, I received a member notice from Arbor Day Foundation about the same thing.

For every dollar given to ArborDay, they will send a tree to be planted in the disaster area. I think this is fantastic and I wanted you all to know about it.

Here's the link to the original story about the loss. [HYPERLINK@www.livescience.com]

And here's a link to the ArborDay Disaster program. [HYPERLINK@www.arborday.org]

As lovers of nature and all things that grow, I think we should try to help

The loss of trees is truly staggering to think about.

To have the hyperlink work automatically just cut and paste the address from the address bar in a second window. I reentered one here for anyone who wants to check it out. I have always liked this group myself.

Again, welcome to DG.
